Biography
Mr Pierluigi Cuomo studied medicine in Italy at the University of Florence where he graduated in 1999. After obtaining his specialist degree in trauma and orthopaedics, he moved to London to perform basic science research on knee biomechanics at the Imperial Mechanical Engineering Department where he got his PhD degree on knee biomechanics.
In 2007 Mr Cuomo became a substantive consultant at the University Hospital of Florence, Italy, in the Orthopaedic Unit for Bone Cancer and Joint Reconstruction. He has extensive surgical experience in orthopaedic trauma, hip and knee replacement, knee soft tissue reconstruction and orthopaedic oncology.
In 2019 Mr Cuomo moved back to London to join the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, then in 2020 he was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Bioengineering.
